Roadmap

The projects below articulate a roadmap for development.

Identity Agents: create sovereign copies of digital identities from which public copies are derived. They use ECDHE to exchange public copies for collaboration among users, and HTTPS to exchange public copies for user to provider collaboration. See Q&A [20-24].

Real Estate: Real estate transactions carrying sensitive identifying, legal, and wire transfer data are shared among collaborating real estate agents, home owners, and home buyers. Stakeholders operating within a real estate context use their identity agents to assert their digital identities. ECDHE is used to exchange public copies and secure user-to-user messaging (e.g. email, SMS).

E-Commerce: Shoppers purchase specialty products online. The seller offers branded digital identity templates to visiting shoppers over HTTPS. The shopper populates the template with asserted identifying data when creating her digital identity. Shoppers and sellers exchange and cross-seal public copies when registering. Digital identities are used to identify and authenticate online shoppers.

Social Network: The network provider (e.g. Bluesky) offers branded (sealed) digital identity templates to affiliated members (e.g. journalists) over HTTPS. They use their identity agents to populate the template to create digital identities asserting who they are. Public copies are exchanged and cross-sealed to register. Digital identities are used to mutually identity and authenticate (log in).

Professional Network: The network (e.g. LinkedIn) offers branded (sealed) digital identity templates to members who populate the template, exchange, cross-seal, register public copies over HTTPS. Instead of passwords, public copies are used to mutually identify and authenticate. Mutually endorsed members exchange public copies online and securely collaborate using email and SMS.

Bank: The services of a notary public are available. A customer has a digital banking identity reliably identifying her when logged into the bank’s online system. Needing to notarize a document, the customer affixes a digital seal and submit the document to the notary. The notary validates the digital seal, inspects the document, and digitally seals (notarizes) it if requirements are met.

Government: Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMVs) require identifying documents when renewing a license. Drivers are provided a digital identity template populated to create and register a digital identity used to log into DMV’s online system (HTTPS). Renewing drivers submit their identifying document(s) online. If successfully identity-proofed, a sealed digital DMV license is issued. The driver’s mobile can be used to show the digital DMV license.
